Three Problems With Normal Roofing That A Metal Roof Would Fix

Blog

When most people think of the different types of roofing that are available, the first few options are always going to be tiles, cement, or even asphalt. Many people do not even realize that metal roofing is an option not just reserved for warehouses or industrial buildings, but also for everyday houses across the country. If you are thinking about upgrading your roof or are building a new home and want to know what material you should go with, then you really should consider metal roofing. Here are three problems that other materials have that metal roofing solves by its very nature.

Individual Repairs

The great thing about metal roofing is that it comes in large sections, not individual tiles or small slates. Your whole roof may only be made of a couple of sheets of large, custom-fitted metal which means the whole thing is very strong. There is no need for little repairs here and there, or replacing tiles every couple of years. Metal roofs have been known to last decades with barely any maintenance at all, making them ideal for weather conditions that are usually very rough on your roof. Metal roofing is also much easier to spot issues when they arise, as it is impossible to hide, so they can be addressed immediately.

Shifting Or Sliding Out Of Place

Another issue that many modern roofs face to this day is the problem of sliding out of position. This can happen for a bunch of reasons, whether it is snow weighing down individual tiles, debris from nearby trees causing certain tiles to get squeezed out of place, or even simply just extremely strong gusts of wind in hurricane season. Metal roofing does not move out of place because it is bolted down and has nowhere to move. It is much more durable because of this, and often why it is used in industrial applications in the first place.

Easy To Refurbish

When your roof gets old and you want to make it look new again it is almost impossible to do that with tiles or asphalt without completely replacing the roof itself. Refurbishing your metal roofing, on the other hand, is a breeze. You can repaint it, give it a new protective surface and it will be good as new. Also, because it is one or two big pieces, it is a very flat and simple surface to paint, so it can be done in a day or two.

Roofing Fundamentals: What To Know Before Replacement

When it came time to install a new roof on my home, I had no idea where to start. In fact, I was exploring roofing options that were a really poor fit in my climate. It wasn't until I reached out to a local roofer that I got some lessons on how to choose the right roofing material for my home and the weather exposure it is subjected to. I built this site to share my journey, including the mistakes I made and the things that I learned along the way. If you are considering replacing your home's roof, I hope that the information here can help to guide you through the process.
